Hike

On our second day in Kauai, Evan and I decided to get up early and do an 8 mile hike along the Na Pali coast.  The coastline is a gorgeous backdrop of cliffs and luscious green foliage along a stretch of pure Hawaiian beauty. It's a popular hike among tourists. You hike 2 miles to a hidden beach that is a vision of beauty. Then, you can continue along the coastline, ultimately ending up on a beach further down that you must camp and spend the night; or you can hike 2 miles into the mountain to a gorgeous 300 foot waterfall. We decided to go to the waterfall - there is nothing like dipping your toes into pure crystal clear water that flows naturally from the Mountains of paradise.

This was my inaugural hike. As active as I am, I can't say that I have ever had the opportunity to go on an actual hike. The rough terrain was tough on our shoes, and the path was very poorly marked which only made it that much more rewarding when we ultimately dove into the freezing pool below the waterfall. It was my favorite part of our vacation as I felt a true sense of accomplishment when we reached the waterfall. Both of us were covered from heat to toe in sweat but beaming from joy as we took in the gorgeous scenery. Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the day. I took over a hundred shots over our 5 hour journey. It's tough to pick which ones to share with everyone...
